Master Sailor (MSR)Master sailor is the final junior enlisted rank and is the first step towards leadership positions in the Navy. Senior master sailors can be placed in the leadership position of a petty officer if they show exceptional leadership ability but have not yet met promotion requirements.

Petty Officer First Class (PY1)Like the promotion to petty officer, a promotion to petty officer first class is not simply a raise in pay, but also an increase in expectations in both technical expertise and leadership abilities. PY1's are expected to be able to easily manage themselves and their subordinates.

Command Master Chief Petty Officer (CMC)Command master chief petty officers are the senior enlisted petty officers in the AFN. As such, CMC's are vested with special command trust and confidence, extending to the forming and execution of policy within your occupational field or across the full Navy spectrum.

Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCN)The Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCN) is the most senior enlisted member of the F.A. Navy, equivalent to the Sergeant Major of the Army and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force. The MCN acts as the representative of enlisted Sailors to the Admiral of the Navy.
