The Declaration of Sovereignty is the statement adopted by the First Federate Congress meeting in the British Colony of New York on July 2, 1775, which announced that the 13 colonies in the so-called "New World," regarded themselves as a single newly independent sovereign state, and no longer under rule by the British Empire.
